Why this matters

PMM sits at the intersection of product, sales, marketing, and customer success — without an explicit stakeholder map, you'll constantly be the last to know about decisions that affect your work.

Try it yourself

1. Draw a stakeholder map for a PMM at a mid-size SaaS company: list each team, what PMM gives them, and what PMM needs from them.
2. Identify one stakeholder relationship that is frequently adversarial in PMM roles (e.g., PMM vs. sales on messaging control) and write one sentence on how to manage it.
3. For a product launch you know, trace which teams needed to be informed versus consulted versus driving the decision on launch date.
