Each major platform weights ranking signals differently — what drives reach on LinkedIn actively suppresses it on TikTok, and treating them the same is why most cross-posted content underperforms. Understanding the distinct signal sets each algorithm uses lets you write briefs that actually fit the platform instead of hoping.

Try it yourself

1. Find a post you published on two platforms simultaneously and compare the engagement rate on each — note which platform-native signals (saves, reposts, comments) were triggered on each.
2. Look up LinkedIn's documented ranking factors and identify which one your last 5 posts did not optimize for (e.g., dwell time vs. early comment velocity).
3. Open TikTok's creator resources and list the three ranking signals they explicitly name — then check whether your last video's caption and hook addressed any of them.
